Incubator Progress

This year holds so many opportunities to help empower the needy here in Africa. Your prayers and support are so vital to this journey and we thank God for each of you as you stand with us in the ministry. This week we move forward – grafting passion fruit seedlings as well as putting some final touches on an experimental style of egg incubator that Don is developing. Do you have any experience with hatching and raising chicks?

Good morning Don and friends. My dad raised chickens for many years and had a couple of big commercial incubators at one time. But when we were homeschooling, we did a project on incubation using an incubator from Cornell Cooperative Extension’s 4-H Office. It was made from a couple of carboard boxes to allow layers of insullation and a glass top over it to keep the moisture in and be able to see inside. The heat source was an incandescent light bulb. Critical was the amount of moisture which must be raised in the final 21 days before hatch (did we do that with a sponge?) Write me on e-mail and I’ll dig for info if you wish. Dad was awed that we had 100% hatch with that project. It was a God thing 🙂
