WELCOME BACK to the Rogers’ Neighborhood Blog space! WOW – God is at work, and I wanted to share this extraordinary journey in Kenya with as many as possible. This space will be a good place for photos, updates, and videos to land – ESPECIALLY on and around OCTOBER 10th, 2023 – when over 2,000 reformed illegal brewers (now Women of Change!) will gather not far from where I am right now at the ELI – Ilula Training Center near Eldoret, Kenya. There is so much more to share, but let this short paragraph turn the handle to a door we’ll walk through together in the days to come!

We’ve experienced so much already on this journey with empowering lives!  Reconnecting with key Women of Change leaders like Ruth and Julia and then traveling out to the villages to see the fruit of the transformation that they and many others have passed on is truly overwhelming. Thank you Lord for the privilege to be even a small part of their journey to new life. And thank you friends for praying for them and for us. We are blessed beyond words.

Amazing first day in Kenya! Started out with several hours of discussion with key leaders about the movement of God in our midst as the Empowering Lives staff experience and share stories and strategies of change that are multiplying across Kenya.
Then a walk through of both the fantastic ELI Training Center -then lunch- then tour of the Children’s Home and a chance to sing, share and fellowship during devotion time! Sooo good. See photo. And as if the day could not get better…several of the key Women of Change (reformed illegal brewers) arrived to join us for dinner and a couple of hours of fellowship and sharing !
Tomorrow begins three exciting days of travel as we follow the trail of multiplying village impact because of Family HOPE training.

WHAT A WELCOME!!! It was raining when Amy, Christina Andriese, and I arrived at the ELI Training Center and children’s home here in Kenya and on exiting the car our host Peter said…
“Don, the training hall is dark, but it’s raining so just open the hall door for us please. I did, we stepped inside, the lights went on, and this video is a tiny glimpse of the love and welcome that embraced us just now – Wednesday evening Kenya time!!!

We are heading back to Kenya and we couldn’t be more excited to once again join the amazing Empowering Lives International staff of over 100 nationals serving full time with the ministry.

Women of Change leaders

There are few things as rewarding as knowing you are making a concrete difference in the lives of people in need. YOU are helping make that difference! Here are some of the women who use to brew and sell illegal alcohol BUT TODAY they are serving Jesus – formed a Choir and are meeting today at the ELI training center as we plan how to reach even more lives for Christ and help them out of poverty.
