Today was completely different. Went from the village of Ilula where the ELI Training center and Children’s home is to the “town office” in Eldoret city to connect with our office staff about banking and financial systems that will improve our accounting/banking process and accountability structures. I have a feeling God loves good administration. What do you think?

Inspiring discussions today with ELI Director Samuel Teimuge and Training Center Manager Dennis Kiprop about the women’s lives that are being transformed by Christ through the training center efforts and your prayers. This week I’ll travel with a small ELI team and head down to the Kerio Valley for a series of meetings and community visits – praying for God’s power to bring light to the currently dark community of Kapsoo.
The woman in the photo had felt so guilty because of her brewing alcohol – but coming to know Christ at the Training Center gave her courage to attend church for the first time in years. She was embraced by the church with open arms and tears fell from many eyes.

Tomorrow in Kenya (which is our Sunday night)… approximately 40 women and men from three different villages in Kenya who are looking for hope and change (because of their current vocation of brewing illegal alcohol) will begin one week of training at the ELI Training Center (Ilula, Kenya). We will share ideas, skills, and the love of God. Join our prayers so that these needy lives will be changed for now and eternity.

A pretty amazing day for ELI Director Don Rogers at the ELI Ilula (Ukweli) Training Center (Kenya)! The conversations about life and ministry with ELI Director Samuel Teimuge, ELI staff Jim and Cat Caya, Andrew Belko, Children’s Home Counselor Ezra, and others were fantastic and so encouraging to hear and see what God is doing. Two photos: Mushroom growing huts. Hanging plastic tubes filled with wheat straw ingredients produce healthy food / Oyster Mushrooms from inside these mud huts!

I HAVE ARRIVED at the Empowering Lives International Training Center and Children’s Home in Ilula, Kenya this evening. God answered all prayers for a safe journey! What a meaningful welcome from staff and children AND there is a gentleman here (Elijah) from the Maasai tribe who has come to learn all he can in order to return to his village community near Narok to bring transformation to others. I’ll get more of his story tomorrow. Thank you to all of you who help make this ministry possible.

Precious Friends

After what seems like a few days on airplanes I arrived in Nairobi and am staying at Mayfield Guesthouse tonight (Ever stayed there?).  It’s nighttime (11pm) so the guesthouse and Nairobi streets are quite. First impressions – Peaceful;  Sweet heavy air with the occasional aroma of diesel fuel and then that autumn smell of burning leaves. Lord, orchestrate this journey and my steps for your Glory. Now to rest.

Safe arrival in Amsterdam in route to Nairobi. Had a good conversation with a gentleman from Amsterdam on the plane. He told me that his girlfriend goes to church but it’s not his “thing”. Got a chance to tell him how important it is to have God in your life and encouraged him to find a Bible and read the book of Mark when he gets home. He agreed he would. Now waiting at the gate to board for Nairobi flight.

AFRICA is on my heart and I’m excited to head back to Kenya today! Sitting at LAX right now waiting for the call to board. So much to see and connect with during the next three weeks. Especially on October 11th!!! Thanks for your prayers me me as I travel and for Amy, Joshua and Nathaniel as they hold down the fort in Murrieta. God is good!

Prayers are powerful. Just received word that the team (Life Bible Fellowship led by Russ Parker and ELI staff) were able to modify the troublesome machine part and continue to drill successfully through the rock to reach 195 feet where THEY HIT WATER. God is good! Tomorrow need prayers for a quick trip to Mwanza for parts then installing casing and pouring cement slab. If all goes well, Friday will be installing of hand pump & drinking clean water. Team leaves Tanzania Saturday noon -so- Please continue to pray for this journey.

Today ELI staff are working together with a team from Life Bible Fellowship (Upland, Calif) to begin using the recently purchased LS 300T water drilling rig in Tanzania. We received a text message from Andrew Belko that on this – the first day – all machines were operating well and they have drilled 45 feet. Work continues tomorrow. Pray for continued success in this important effort to bring clean water to a dry land.
